Energy-efficiency in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland's energy mix differs from the rest of the UK: most homes still rely on home heating oil rather than mains gas, and electricity prices are typically higher per kWh. That makes air-source heat pumps and solar PV particularly impactful here — the saving against an oil boiler is usually larger than the saving against gas in Great Britain. Pre-1919 stock is concentrated in Belfast and the linen-mill towns; rural housing tends to be 1960s-1980s detached. OMEGA crews install across Northern Ireland directly; free survey usually 2–3 days, never more than a week.

A local crew, usually within the fortnight.

Funding routes in Northern Ireland

Three live grant routes — we check every one on the survey.

Northern Ireland runs its own devolved energy-efficiency scheme alongside the UK-wide grants. Most homeowners qualify for at least one — and don't know it. We check eligibility on the free survey, file the paperwork in our name, and tell you in writing which routes apply and how much they could be worth.

Affordable Warmth Scheme

Northern Ireland's targeted fuel-poverty scheme — administered through the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and local councils. Up to £7,500 of energy-efficiency measures (insulation, heating upgrades, draught-proofing) for eligible owner-occupiers and private renters earning under a set income threshold. We check what applies on the survey.

Boiler Replacement Allowance

Northern Ireland-specific scheme paying up to £1,700 toward replacing an inefficient boiler with a high-efficiency condensing boiler. Subject to eligibility (income threshold and existing boiler age). We confirm what applies to your home.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The UK-wide BUS heat-pump grant runs in NI as well — up to £7,500 off an air-source heat pump and £7,500 off a ground-source unit. Particularly powerful here because most homes are switching from heating oil, where the saving is the largest in the UK.
