If your bedrooms still feel cold by January and the radiators are working overtime, the insulation in your walls and loft is almost certainly thinner than it should be — most UK homes built before 1990 are leaking 30–40% of the heat they pay for. We fit every type of insulation: rock wool and mineral fibre in lofts and cavities, EPS bead in masonry cavities, sheep wool and natural fibre for breathable old fabric, and our recommended premium method — multifoil — wherever performance matters most. Will I qualify for grants and funding?
Most homes rated EPC D or below qualify for at least one of the available schemes. Our surveyor checks eligibility against ECO4 and HUG2 in the same visit — if you qualify, we handle the paperwork.
How disruptive is the installation?
Loft and cavity work is normally a single-day job with zero disruption to your kitchen or bathroom — we put dust sheets down, vacuum up behind us, and you stay in the home throughout. Internal wall insulation takes 2–3 days per room, and we work room-by-room so you're never living out of one bedroom waiting for the rest. Your surveyor maps the order on the day so you know exactly when each room is sealed, plastered and back to normal.
What is the difference between internal and external wall insulation?
External wall insulation (EWI) wraps the outside of your home in rigid insulation and a render or board finish — best for solid-wall houses where you want to keep every inch of room size and lift the kerb appeal at the same time. Internal wall insulation (IWI) is faster and cheaper but takes around 60mm off each external-facing room. Your surveyor will recommend the right one based on your property type, planning constraints (some conservation areas only allow IWI), and your funding route — fully written into the fixed-price quote before you sign.
Does insulation cause damp?
Only if it's installed badly — and that's the difference between a PAS2030 install and a back-of-the-van one. Insulation traps heat that used to escape, which means moist indoor air condenses on whatever stays cold; that's why ventilation matters as much as the insulation itself. Every OMEGA install includes a free ventilation assessment, with extract fans or trickle vents upgraded where needed at no extra charge. We back the work with a 5-year guarantee against condensation damage.
