About this service

EV charging, designed properly.

If you're paying 50p+/kWh at a public rapid charger when you could be charging at 7p overnight on Octopus Go, a home charger is the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade you can make as an EV owner — and the saving usually pays for the install inside a year. We're an OZEV-approved installer, which means renters and flat-owners can still access the £350 chargepoint grant and the full DNO notification process is handled by us, not you. Same-day survey, half-day install, 3-year warranty on the unit, and a smart-tariff schedule set up before we leave so you wake up to a full battery on cheap-rate electricity.

What you get

  • 7kW smart chargers fit every UK EV — charges 0–100% overnight
  • Smart scheduling cuts charging cost by up to 70% off-peak
  • 22kW options for homes with 3-phase supply
  • OZEV grant handled for eligible customers (renters, flats)
  • 3-year warranty standard, 5-year option

How it works

How it works, step by step.

  1. 01

    Remote survey

Three photos and your postcode. We confirm eligible chargers and DNO headroom within 24 hours.

  2. 02

    Fixed quote

All cable runs, earthing, consumer unit upgrades if needed — included in a fixed quote. No day-of-install surprises.

  3. 03

Half-day install (NICEIC-registered electrician named on the morning)

9am: NICEIC- and NAPIT-registered electrician arrives, walks the cable run with you, agrees the route before any drill comes out. 10am: cut-out and tails check, dedicated RCBO on the consumer unit, Part P notified. 11am: wall-mount on, cable dressed clean. 12pm: charger commissioned, OCPP test, smart-tariff app paired with your phone, charge cycle tested with your car. Out by 1pm. The charger has to charge your vehicle, not a tester, before we sign off.

  4. 04

    App setup + tariff config

We pair your charger to your home WiFi, install the app, set up off-peak scheduling before we leave.

Accreditations that matter

Not logos. The certifications that matter for EV charging.

Every one of these is checkable online. Every one changes something concrete about the job — the survey, the materials, the guarantees, the way the grants land.

  • OZEV approved

Office for Zero Emission Vehicles installer authorisation

We can access the £350 EV Chargepoint Grant for tenants, landlords and flat owners — and file the paperwork for you.

  • NAPIT

    Competent-person scheme for electrical work

Your consumer-unit work, EV charger, solar DC and battery wiring all get notified to Building Control by us — you don't pay Part P separately.

  • RECC

    Renewable Energy Consumer Code

You get a 14-day cooling-off, a deposit protection scheme, and an independent dispute route. We'd rather never need it, but it's there.

  • TrustMark

The only endorsement scheme backed by the UK consumer body

Every install is lodged on the TrustMark register so your cover travels with the property.

One project, two upgrades

Already booking us for the EV charger? Wrap the loft in multifoil while we're there.

EV charging and multifoil insulation are independent products — but both are typically half-day jobs that benefit from a single survey, a single team, and a single install schedule. Most customers who fit a 7kW charger on the same visit save £200–£300 on combined-project labour.

Why pairing wins

  • Survey once, fit twice — the multifoil install is a 1–2 day job that slots around the 4-hour EV charger fit.
  • A wrapped home with an EV runs cheaper overnight on Octopus Go (7p/kWh) than the EV alone — combined saving usually beats either upgrade alone.
  • Single team, single contract, single warranty — no juggling installers across two projects.

The OMEGA Charger Install Promise

A 7 kW OZEV-grant-eligible charger, fitted in half a day, working before we leave.

Standard 7 kW charger installs are a half-day job — we arrive at 9 a.m., we're commissioning the charger by 1 p.m. Every fit is OZEV-grant-eligible and tested with your car before we leave. The charger has to charge YOUR vehicle, not a tester, before we hand over.

If we miss

If we don't leave a charger that's working with your vehicle on the day, we don't invoice. We come back, fix it free, and the cost stays at zero.

Honest about who this isn't for

This isn't right for properties without off-street parking — public charging's a different market. If your distribution board needs an upgrade we'll quote it separately on the survey.

The measurable promise

Pick your plan

How would you like to buy this?

Three ways to take this on. The middle one is what most homeowners choose — set-and-forget, no surprise bills, no chase. Pick the one that suits.

  1. TIER 1

    Install

Half-day install. Tested with your car before we leave.

    • Everything in Tier 1
    • Annual electrical safety check (EICR top-up)
    • Annual cable + tether inspection
    • Annual smart-tariff review (Go vs Intelligent vs Agile)
    • Firmware update + OCPP protocol audit
  3. TIER 3

    OMEGA Driveway+

Care plan + Intelligent EV Tariff Concierge.

    From £849cash
    £34.90 / momonthly

Tier 2 + £4.95 Concierge · independent EV tariff routing

    • Everything in Tier 2
    • Annual review of EV tariffs (Octopus Intelligent Go, etc.)
    • We file the supplier-switch paperwork on your behalf
    • Charging-schedule optimised against your home solar (where present)
    • 5-yr warranty extension included (vs 3 standard)

Tariff Concierge means we route you to the cheapest tariff that fits how you actually use power — not whichever supplier pays us most. We’re an installer, not an energy retailer. Most recommendations land on Octopus, but we run a full market check for every customer.

EV charging add-ons

Worth adding to your install (or your existing setup).

Pricing is indicative — we re-quote against your actual driveway on the survey. Most of these are paired-install bargains — far cheaper at the same visit than later.

  • Performance

    Pairs with solar

    Solar-aware charger upgrade

Diverter logic — only charges from solar excess (or from solar + grid below a tariff threshold). Pairs perfectly with a household solar array; cuts EV running cost by another 20–40%.

    £249 fittedAdd-on at install
  • Capacity

    Second charger install

Two-car households save ~£200 vs separate visits. Fitted same-day to the same consumer unit, second tether dressed cleanly. Smart-load-balancing keeps both within supply.

    From £549Add-on at install
  • Capacity

    Tethered ↔ untethered swap

Swap the unit between tethered (built-in cable) and untethered (BYO cable) when your charging needs change. Same wall position, half-day visit.

    £199One-off
  • Capacity

    Pedestal mount (no wall available)

For driveways where wall-mount isn't feasible — concrete-mounted pedestal with the charger fitted neatly at car-window height. Future-proofs against a second car.

    £349 fittedAdd-on at install
  • Capacity

    Cable extension (5m → 10m)

For driveways where the parking spot is awkward to reach from the wall. Manufacturer-spec extension, fully tested at the install.

    £89Add-on at install
  • Comfort

    Outdoor weatherproof socket

A 13A outdoor socket for the lawnmower, hot tub, or jet wash — fitted from the same consumer-unit run as the charger. Wired in the same hour for ~10% of the standalone cost.

    £149Add-on at install

Grants and funding

The grants you can get.

Eligibility changes often, the schemes don’t reward homeowners who fill the forms in themselves, and the paperwork is genuinely tedious. So we file it for you.

We handle the paperwork end-to-end

  • ECO4 + GBIS — insulation, paid direct to us
  • BUS — up to £7,500 off heat pumps
  • SEG — export tariff registration
  • OZEV / EVHS — EV charger grants

You sign once. We submit, evidence, and chase. The grant comes off your final invoice — nothing for you to claim back.

  • Workplace Charging Scheme — up to £350 per socket, 40 sockets

Common questions

Common questions, answered honestly.

  • Which charger should I buy?

It depends on your tariff and whether you have solar. There isn't a single 'best' charger, only the right one for your setup. Octopus Go users love the Ohme for its tariff-aware scheduling; solar households almost always pick the MyEnergi Zappi for its solar-surplus charging mode; Easee and Wallbox make excellent fit-and-forget units for the flat-electricity-rate household. Tell us your tariff, your car and whether you have or are planning solar, and we'll recommend on the survey — our margin is the same across brands so the call is honest, not commission-led.

  • Do I need a 3-phase supply for 22kW?

Yes — and the vast majority of UK homes are single-phase, which caps domestic AC charging at 7.4 kW (around 30 miles of range per hour). For most household-driving patterns 7.4 kW is plenty: an overnight charge from empty to full takes 6–8 hours and you typically only need to top up. We check your supply on the remote survey before booking, and if you specifically need 22 kW we'll flag the DNO upgrade options and rough costs in writing before the install is locked in.

  • Will the DNO approve my install?

Almost always, yes — DNO refusals on a standard 7.4 kW domestic charger are rare, and we pre-check the cable rating and local substation headroom on the remote survey before quoting. The G98 (≤16A per phase) or G99 (>16A per phase) notification is handled end-to-end by our team — you don't see a form, and the install slot is only locked in once the paperwork is clear. If anything's flagged on the survey we'll flag it with you before you commit, never after.

  • Can I get a grant?

If you're a renter, a flat-owner, or a landlord installing for tenants, yes — the OZEV EV chargepoint grant pays £350 per socket. Owner-occupiers of houses are no longer eligible under the current scheme (the grant was retired for that group in 2022), but you may still qualify for tax-deductible expense routes if you run a business from the home. We confirm eligibility on the remote survey and apply on your behalf when it's available — there's no application form for you to navigate.
