ECO4 · Grants & funding
ECO4. What it actually covers, and who qualifies.
ECO4 is the largest grant scheme available to UK homeowners for insulation and heating upgrades. It is funded by the major energy suppliers — not paid out as cash, but applied as a discount against the install cost. Most qualifying households pay nothing or close to it. Subject to eligibility — we check the live position on every survey.

Eligibility
Who this covers
Eligibility rules shift as schemes evolve. Treat this as a starting guide — the on-site survey is the only way to confirm for certain.
- Homeowner or private tenant with landlord permission
- Receiving qualifying benefits (Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit, ESA, JSA, or Housing Benefit)
- Property with EPC rating of D, E, F, or G
- Property built before 2002 with inadequate insulation
- Household income below £31,000 with a health condition (Flex eligibility)
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is one of the most significant funding programmes available to UK homeowners. It requires large energy suppliers to fund energy-efficiency improvements in homes that need them most.
OMEGA is a fully accredited ECO4 installer covering Essex, Suffolk, Kent, and Cambridgeshire. We handle the entire process — from eligibility check to installation — at no cost to qualifying households.
What Does ECO4 Cover?
ECO4 takes a whole-house approach, funding the measures that will make the biggest difference to your home's energy performance. This typically includes loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, underfloor insulation, room-in-roof insulation where applicable, and heating system upgrades.
The scheme aims to bring properties up to at least an EPC Band C, which can reduce energy bills by an estimated £300–£900 per year depending on your property type and current insulation levels.
Why Choose OMEGA for ECO4 Installation?
We are TrustMark registered, PAS 2030/2035 compliant, and have installed over 2,500 measures under ECO funding across the region. Our team handles all paperwork, liaising with energy suppliers on your behalf so you do not need to deal with any bureaucracy.
Every installation comes with a 25-year guarantee and full certification, including an updated EPC rating once the work is complete.
Common questions
ECO4 — answered honestly.
Who qualifies for ECO4 funding?
Homeowners and private tenants on qualifying benefits including Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit, ESA, JSA, and Housing Benefit. Properties must generally have an EPC of D or below. Some households qualify through the LA Flex pathway based on income (typically below £31,000) and health conditions.
Is ECO4 funding genuinely free?
Yes. ECO4 is funded by energy suppliers as a legal obligation. There is no cost to eligible households — no hidden fees, no loans, and no repayment required. OMEGA manages the entire process directly with the obligated suppliers.
What insulation can I get through ECO4?
ECO4 covers loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, underfloor insulation, and in some cases room-in-roof insulation. In many properties, heating system upgrades can also be funded. Our surveyor will recommend the most effective combination of measures for your home.
How long does the ECO4 process take?
From initial survey to completed installation typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on the measures being installed and survey findings. Loft insulation can often be installed within days of approval, while external wall insulation may take longer to schedule and complete.
Will ECO4 funding continue in 2025 and 2026?
ECO4 is currently scheduled to run until March 2026. Funding allocations are limited and demand is high, so we recommend applying as soon as possible to secure support while the scheme is still open.
